Red Mt.

April 2 -- Stats: 10.8 km / 503m gain / 563m high / 3 hours MT

This moderate hike is great for a not so great weather day. There are no views from the summit but not long after you start the final descent on an FSR, there are views to the southeast of Mission. This mountain is used not only by hikers but by mountain bikers and ATVs as well.

We parked at Mills Pond, right of Dewdney Trunk Rd. Then we crossed the road to the yellow gate.

On the Momentum Trail.

One huge Hemlock. Here we backtracked a bit to the junction to the Crazy 8 trail heading north.

It was a steep climb on the Crazy 8 that led to the summit-with-no-view.

We emerged onto an FSR with an overgrown viewpoint with a crude bench (and these pussy willows).

On the RE140 & then RE120 FSR road, heading back.

This Stellar Jay did not like us intruding upon his space.

Leaving the road and getting back into the forest on the RE100, this cute sign greeted us.

This trail took us past the rock quarry and the shooting range.

Mill's Pond by the parking lot. Left is Red Mt and right is Bear Mt.

Momentum - right on Black Tie - right on RW100 - left on Crazy 8 - which led round the summit onto RE140 - left on RE100 of which some sections were on FSR. You need a GPS because there's no signage on the trails.

Stave Lake to the left.
