Red Mt.

Stats: 10.8 km / 430m gain / 2:50 hours MT / 552m high point

This is a pick-and-choose network of trails on a mountain that lies between Hayward and Harrison Lakes in Mission.

I did the outer loop clockwise. From Momentum Trail to Red Rider to Valleyview.

These trails are shared by mountain bikers and hikers.

I've never seen so many trilliums on a trail before.

After ascending for the most part on the Momentum Trail, the trail started to descend after the Red Rider junction.

Bleeding Hearts - I don't like them in my garden but in the forest they look pretty.

Pansies - tiny and growing in small tufts of moss.

View southeast towards the town of Mission.

After the Red Rider Trail I walked about 30 minutes on an FSR before popping back into the forest on the Valleyview trail where the trail began to ascend again.

The Ruskin Dam on Hayward Lake - west.

I counted 5 Inukshuks, 3 being at the small rock quarry a bit farther down the road from here. The last

2/3 of the Valleyview Trail was on an FSR. Views southeast on Matsqui Prairie.

The last short section was back in the forest.

Mill Lake by the parking lot just across the road.
