Poland Lake via Gibson Meadows

January 7 - Stats: 11.5 km / 450m gain / 1740m high

This route was created by Gary Baker & Hans Roos over a decade ago. Both are and were active important members of the Chilliwack Outdoor Club. Breaking trail can be a real chore. We're thankful to the group infront of us for taking on that task in powder snow that was sometimes knee deep.

We parked at the end of the upper parking lot by the downhill ski area in Manning Park.

The blue chairlift is only open Friday - Sunday. So we had the slopes to ourselves.

View south on Snowcamp, Lonely Goat & Red Mtns.

About 20 minutes and then we turned right into the forest.

Passing a tarn.

Traversing the Gibsons Meadows, before turning right and north into the forest.

The grade of the slope was steep from the meadows to the summer trail.

We turned left onto the summer trail that starts at the top of the orange chairlift.

A detour round a fallen tree.

The summer trail is more level and didn't take long to get to the lake. 2) A glimpse of the Hozameens.

At the north end of Poland Lake. Bojo Peak in the background.

I'd never seen this much snow before. The hut was almost buried.

It was not that cold out so we had a nice long liesurely lunch break.

Heading back.

Back in the meadows.

Nepopekum Mt -- southwest.
