Grouse Mt. Regional Park - July 6

I hesitate to call this hike a hike. Much of it was more like a scramble. It took just as long to get there as to get back.

We got the first 9:00am gondola ride up. Other than one other passenger, we had it all to ourselves. On the way down it was full. We were directed to file in row by row, to our designated dots.

A larger than life exhibit.

Grinder and Cool are 19 year old orphaned grizzlies.

Roots, snow and water were constant obstacles on this rough trail.

Nearing the junction to Goat Mt. There was still a lot of snow for the month of July.

Our destination on the right: Crown peak and the Camel on its shoulder to the right -- north.

Goat Peak to the right -- northeast view.

After passing the Goat Mt. trail, we started to do a very steep 200m descent to the pass and Hanes Valley junction. Fixed chains provide assistance.

Then it was a relentless 400m climb to the summit.

Hanes Valley - right pic.

We veered to the left on this boulder slope. Wet rock made for very careful steps.

The rocky ridge of Crown Mt.

View south on Vancouver's harbours.

A long way down to Hanes Valley.

The Crater Rim aerate. Goat Peak to the left with its flat top.

South.

View northwest.

Made it! The peak is aptly named the "Pyramid".

Northwest.

The Lions to the left -- west.

The head of the "Camel" -- east.

Very careful steps here.

Lynn Headwaters Regional Park to the east.

Heading back down.

Notice the windmill of Grouse to the distant right.

Much of the trail was like a creek, with constant flowing water.

Negotiating a very steep stretch of slippery snow.

Back at the Grouse gondola at 6:30pm.
