What to do on a wet winter day? Head for the hot springs! It's a 1.5 hour 4WD from Harrison village. Past the second logging camp (where our friend Lester lives), the FSR leaves the eastern shores of Harrison Lake and veers northeast into the forest. It being Dec. 21st, there was just a bit of snow at the springs yet.
Harrison Lake.

Arrived. About 2 decades ago there was no road to the springs. We had to hike an hour up an old creek bed. When I asked Case how he ever found the springs, he replied, "I just followed the empty beer cans".
These tubs reminded me of the fairy tale of the Three Bears: the first one was too cold (closest), the second one was too hot (left) and the third one was just right!
Shoot. I forgot my flip-flops. Walking on the snow gets pretty cold pretty fast on bare feet. There a nice change room left of the tubs.
Our good ol' FJ has brought us to many trailheads and back country delights. It looks like crap, full of dents and scratches but that gives it character and a sense of freedom to just go for it...
