Clearcreek Hotsprings

We received so many bouquets for Case's passing.

A few days after both brothers were buried, Corwin organized this family get-together at Grace Lake where the accident took place.

Ellie and Julianne planting the leftover daffodils from the Celebration of Life service.

A few of us walked on a faint trail around the lake to get closer to the spot where the brothers broke through the ice.

Gerrit was eager to show us the way, as he'd done it just half an hour earlier.

Close to the creek that drained into the lake.

We continued, bushwhacking a bit to the road.

Just a short section on the road, and we were back with the group.

Vedder Mt.

It just felt right to be out hiking with Thea & Judith once again. Adriaan joined us. We hiked one hour up to the old barn.

Scarlet Cup.

Feb. 26 - We drove in seven 4x4s (supplied by our family) with 20 Dutchies (mostly relatives) to Clearcreek Hotsprings. Corwin had this very well organized.

Our first stop was at the Dutch bakery in Agassiz. Next to the Rolling Pin in Hope, this was Case's favorite bakery.

Our second stop was on the road that winds along the east side of Harrison Lake. This was the last job Corwin helped Case with.

In front is Case's truck, then three company trucks, then Nick's jeep, the Blazer Case bought recently and Jordans' 4x4 (Corwin's photo).

The Breakenridge Mountains.

Just after the second logging camp is this 100m long tunnel. Renee, Ellie & I had a brief visit with Lester while the others checked out the tunnel. Lester knew Case & Erik quite well, as they visited the hotsprings at least once a year. They helped him rebuild his humble home when his trailor burnt down.

We finally arrived at Clearcreek Hotsprings after three hours of driving. Jade and Julianne became good friends.

Utterly relaxing in the nature.

A weiner roast.

Ellie, Jordan, Nick & Corwin took a dip in the river, after challenging each other. Corwin does cold plunges on a regular basis.

Case couldn't find his lighter so he used the fire. This was the Dutchie's last day with us. After a very emotional week, it felt good to simply get out and have some fun.

Thanks for sharing this event at the Grace Lake site. Wish I could be there also to say goodbyes.
